The Journey Begins

I am first a follower of Christ. A Christian. In all things I do, I want to glorify God, proclaim the Gospel, and obey God's Word, the Bible. Even in my journey to grow a beard. So with that being said, let me ask you a question. If a disaster were to strike right this moment, and you were to be killed, where would you spend eternity? Two things I want you to think about. First, ten out of ten people die. It is the ultimate statistic. Secondly, the Bible says "it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment". So after you die, you will be judged by God, your Creator. You will spend the rest of eternity somewhere! As you think about that, please take a moment to read more on my website. Whether you have thought of these things before or not, they are important to consider and I certainly hope you will do so. Pre-Beard
Now for some talk regarding facial hair. Some consider it a blessing and some consider it a curse, but my facial hair does not grow very well. Once cleanly shaven, I can easily go a week before repeating the process. So when I was inspired to grow a full beard, I knew that I would need to be in for the long haul, and be prepared for a challenge. After watching an episode of Duck Dynasty for the first time, I was inspired to grow my own manly beard. So the journey began on December 1st. I don't think my wife thought I would take it very seriously but as I began to get a little scruffy, she started to complain a little. She would tell me "you need to at least trim it up". But I had been reading up on ways to promote facial hair growth and one of the suggestions was to NOT trim it up. To just be patient and let it grow. There is the belief that shaving frequently promotes faster hair growth, but that has been ruled a myth. So I let it grow and by Christmas time, my beard was looking a little fuller, but still quite pathetic. It was obvious that I hadn't shaved, but it was not necessarily obvious that I was trying to grow a beard. As time has passed, I believe my wife is starting to either like the beard, or perhaps just accept it. I am committed to riding it out and see how long I can grow this thing.

So far at work no one has made any negative comments, but we do have some bearded men around here so I think I'll be okay. So follow my blog or keep up with my website at http://www.travisbowers.net and see how my face changes.
